The purpose of this letter is to provide you with a report on the status of dis-covery and other prehear"ing matters in this proceeding pursuant to your memoran-dum and order of February 29, 1980.
Counsel for the NRC Staff and the licensee have discussed and agreed to the contents of this letter.
On December 23, 1980, the NRC Staff filed its answers to Consumers* Third Round of Interrogatories, dated November 18, 1980.
The Staff intends to conduct further discovery in January, 1981
- The depositions of the NRC 1s Mr. Stello, Mr. Keppler, and Mr. Jorgenson, originally scheduled to be taken by Consumers in early January, i98l, have been postponed indefinitely by Consumers.
The possibility exists of scheduling a conference in the near future betwe:2n representatives of Consumers and the Staff to discuss the potential for a negotiated settlement of this case.
