LICENSE DPR PALISADES PLANT -

FEEDWATER HAMMER AND STEAM GENERATOR DRYOUT CONCERNS Consumers Power Company committed by letter dated October 2, 1980, to (1) evalu-ate the need for and implement necessary procedures to assist operators in iden-tifying stei:µn generator dryout, and ( 2) identlfy operat9r action.if water hrunmer were to occur.

Both of these actions have been completed.

Completion of these actions has resiilted in'changes to the Palisades Plant reactor trip procedure

{EOP 1).

A "reference only" copy of the modified procedures is attached for your information.

Immediate action step #7 now contains guidance for the operator in the event of water ha.mnier.

Subsequent aCtion step #8 provides the operator with guidance -for detecting dryout cif steam generators.

This information satisfies items (1) and (2) of the October 2, letter; item (3) will be provided by December* 1,. 1980, as* committed.
