  • General Offices: 212 West Michigan Avenue, Jackson, Michigan 49201 * (517) 788-0650 April 14, 1980 Director, Nuclear Reactor Regulation Att:

Mr Dennis L Ziemann, Chief Operating Reactors Branch No 2 US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-255 - LICENSE DPR PALISADES PLANT - ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (STUBBED-IN JOINTS)

IE BULLETIN NO 19-14 Consumers Power Company was reQuested in a telephone conversation with NRC staff to provide additional information relative to "stubbed-in" joints at the Palisad~s Plant.

Our February 2T and March 11, 1980, letters described an analytical problem with "stubbed-in" branch connections on some low temperature, low pressure pipe lines.

Although, Consumers Power Company did not consider the problem to be serious from an operation or safety viewpoint, we have decided to modi-fy the "stubbed-in" joints so that the FSAR or interim acceptance criteria for allowable stress limits in piping and pipe supports are met.

These modi-fications have reQuired the addition of pipe saddles on some joints.

Consumers Power Company now considers all issues relative to IE Bulletin No 19-14 to be closed.
