TRANSMITTAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT REGARDING PROPOSED BARGE SLIP Consumers Power Company letter dated January 3, 1980, submitted a document entitled, "Palisades Plant - Steam Generator Repair Report".
Several revis-ions to the report have subsequently b~en transmitted.
The report describes a potential repair program for the Palisades steam* generat.ors based on com-plete replacement of the existing units.
The report identifies that the re-placement steam generators would be delivered to the plant using a' newly constructed barge slip.
Construction of the proposed barge slip at Palisades requires approval of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the US Arrn.y Corps of Engineers.
Consumers Power Company has requested such approval.
Ih support of our request, an Environmental Assessment, addressing the effects of the proposed barge slip, has.been prepared.
Transmitted herewith for your information are 40 copies of the assessment discussed above entitled, "Environmental Assessment ~ Palisades Plant Steam Generator Replacement" dated December, 1979.

Palisades Plant Steam Generator Replacement" dated December, 1979.
This report discusses the environmental effects associated with a proposed barge slip which would be constructed as part of 't,he potential repair program based on complete replacement of the existing steam generators if major
'repairs become necessary.
