LOCATION, DESIGN AND METHOD OF ACTUATION OF ADDITIONAL SPRINKLER HEADS TO BE INSTALLED Sprinkler systems will be installed in the following areas:

1.

Switchgear Room 1-D.

This augments an existing.system.

2.

Intake structure protecting service and fire water pumps.

3.

Fire pump diesel day tank room.

4.

Condensate pump area.

5.

Track alley (dry-pipe system)..

1 The location of new sprinkler heads in each of these areas is shown on the attached drawings (Dwg No 1000564 and No 1000640).

The design density of each of these installations is 0.2 gpm/ft 2

  • The heads are actuated by fusible links at a temperature of 160°F.

DESCRIPTION OF FIRE BARRIER PENETRATION FIRE STOPS AND REFERENCE TO QUALIFICATION TESTING Consumers Power Company lett.er dated September 29, 1978 submitted reports of qualification testing of several fire stop designs.

Fire barrier penetration fire stops will be of the marinite board, Kaowool and flammastic materials as specified in the reports submitted.

DESCRIPTION OF CONTAINMENT BUILDING CABLE TRAY FIRE STOPS 2

Cable tray sections (Numbers 4CP200, 4CV200, CP250, CV250, CASOO, CH510, CK515, CPSlS and CV515) which communicate between the left and right cable tray systems will be fitted with fire stops.

These stops ar~ intended to prevent a fire originating in one tray system from traveling along an interconnecting tray and affecting the other tray system.

The fire stops will be installed according to the attached drawings (Dwg E-42, Sheets 30A and 30B).

In addition to the installation shown on the attached drawings, the top, bottom, and longitudinal sides of the cable tray section containing the fire stop (four feet in length) will be encased with 1/2-inch marinite sheets.
