Subsequently, Consumers Power Company has ~eviewed these commitments with the NRC staff. This review included c:o.nsi:ier.ation of NRC letter dated October 30, 1979 which provided clarification of certain requirements of NUREG-0578, "TI1I-2 Lessons I.earned 7ask Force Statu;:; Report and* Short-Term Recommendations." As a result of this subsequent*::eview, Consumers Power Campany has agreed to implement the NUREG-0578 i.-econunendations consistent with the schedule specified therein. Specifically: Palisades Plant The Palisades Plant. is currently shut down for a refueling outage. All "implementation Category A" items (ie, those with completion dates of January 1, 1980) will be completed prior to start-up. It should be noted that

Completion of the design review for Item 2.1.6.b, "Plant Shielding Review," and Item 2.1.8.a, "Post.-Accident Sampling," are related to ongoing SEP Topics. Design modifications for these items cannot, 1//) Ano: therefore, be fully implemented at this time.

2 Consiimers Power Company concludes that the above commitments are completely responsive to the recommendations of NUREG-05 78.. A complete revision of our responses date'd October 17, 1979, for the Palisade.s Plant and Octo.ber 30,. 1979, for the Big Rock Point Plant, incorporat~ng the changes briefly reviewed ab~ve, will be submitted before the end of December.
