CONTAINMENT PuRGING AND VENTING DURING NORMAL OPERATION Th~ following is a response to the containment purging and vent.ing during normal operation letter serit out 'by the NRC on September 27, 1979. *.

It is the Consumers Power Company's* intent not to open these valyes_ under normal operation, therefore, leaving them in a closed position.

Upon the di*scretion of the plant, these valves may be opened while the. plant is in a

~of.d shutdown or refueling modes.

If we change our position in the future with regard to opifration of these valves, Ccnsmners Power Company will comply with valve qualification program as. outlined in the NRC September 27, 1979, letter.
