OF THE JANUARY 24, 2018, AND JANUARY 31, 2018, U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION CATEGORY 1 PUBLIC TELECONFERENCE WITH NUSCALE POWER, LLC TO DISCUSS STAFF FEEDBACK ON REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION NOS. 9179, 9182, AND 9185 On January 24, 2018, and January 31, 2018, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held Category 1 teleconference public meetings with NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) to discuss staff feedback on NuScale response to the staffs Request for Additional Information (RAI) Nos. 9179, 9182, and 9185 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management Systems (ADAMS) Accession Nos. ML17349A980, ML17355A157, and ML17345A957, respectively).
These RAIs are related to NuScale Design Certification Application, Chapter 2.3, "Meteorology."
One member of the public participated in the January 24, 2018, meeting. No members of the public participated in the January 31, 2018, meeting.

OF THE CATEGORY 1 PUBLIC TELECONFERENCE WITH NUSCALE POWER, LLC TO DISCUSS STAFF FEEDBACK ON REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION NOS. 9179, 9182, 9185 On January 24, 2018, and January 31, 2018, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held Category 1 teleconference public meetings with NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) to discuss the NRC staffs feedback on NuScales response to the NRCs Request for Additional Information (RAI) Nos. 9179, 9182, and 9185 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management Systems (ADAMS) Accession Nos. ML17349A980, ML17355A157, and ML17345A957, respectively). These RAIs are related to NuScale Design Certification Application (DCA), Chapter 2.3, "Meteorology." Attendees for this meeting are listed in . One member of the public participated in the January 24, 2018, meeting. No members of the public participated in the January 31, 2018, meeting.
The NRC staff provided feedback comments to the NuScale staff on its responses to RAIs 9179, 9182, and RAI 9185 during this teleconference. These RAIs were primarily concerned with meteorological related site parameters presented in the NuScale DCA, Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) Tier 1, Section 5.0, Site Parameters, and FSAR Tier 2, Sections 2.0, Site Characteristics and Site Parameters, and 2.3, Meteorology, and covered topics related to Sections 2.3.1, Reginal Climatology, 2.3.4, Short-Term Atmospheric Dispersion Estimates for Accident Releases, and 2.3.5, Long-Term Atmospheric Dispersion Estimates for Routine Releases. The discussions included citation of cross references; consistent use of terminologies throughout the DCA; consistency of information in FSAR Tier 2 table 2.0-1, Site Design Parameters, and FSAR Tier 1, 5.0-1, Site Design Parameters; impact of snow load on the control building roof; appropriateness in using one dispersion model over another in calculating annual average X/Q parameters; need for inclusion of certain meteorological parameters necessary for future combined operating license (COL) applicants; consistency of parameter descriptions with those in regulatory guides; and unambiguous use of release stack height for consideration by future COL applicants.
