. REGULATORY DOCKET RLE COPY DOCKET 50-255 ~ LICENSE DPR PALISADES PLANT - ELECTRICAL SUPPLY TO PRESSURIZER HEATERS Ref (1) -*Letter from D P Hof:f'ma.n to N Villalva dated August 8, 1979 In reference ( 1) Consumers Power Company stated that no credit could be taken for pressurizer heaters following* a LOCA and loss of offsite power.
- However, after conversing with 'members of. your staff, ve can provide the following in-formation:
Fifty percent ( 50%) of.the pressurizer heaters ( 750 kw) are supplied from the emergency bus "]* D".
These heaters are stripped from the bus. and locked out on a safety injection actuation signal.
They can be energized by bypassing the lockout relay using sliding °link tenninal blocks in the control panels.
- This manual evolution would take approximately 5-10 minutes.
There would be enough po-.,er available from the diesel generator to energize all of the heat-ers. on bus 1 D provided the lov pressure safety injection (LPSI) pumps 'W'ere not energized.
In the event of a loss of offsite power not followed by a LOCA or safety injection actuation signal, the heaters on bus 1 D could be energized normal-ly (proportional heaters-automatically, backup heaters manually) provided the
- LPSI pumps vere not'energized.
It should be noted that the press'urizer heater control* transformers are located inside containment and are n~t environmentally: qualified.
