  • J979 Consumers.Power Company's follow-up *to fire protection administrative guidelines (Reference 5) contained two responses that require modification.

Response 6 to Enclosure 1 indicates that audits of the fire protection program are performed biannually. The response should read "Audits are performed biennially ... " which is consistent with the technical.audit frequency identified in Technical Specification 6.5.2.8. In addition, QA audits are performed on a biennial basis in accordance with Consumers Power Company's Quality Assurance Program Policy 18.

Response 9 to Enclosure 2 should be clarified. The response should read, "Consumers Power considers- first-line supervision as part of the -plant's management and, therefore, res~onsible for fire protection needs 6f any particular work order. Whenever a maintenance order is filled out, fire protectiori needs (including a fire watch) must be identified. The plant QC organization provides a ch~ck of this process by reviewing (generally after the work is complete) all safety-related maintenance orders."
