IE BULLETIN 79-06B FOLLOW-UP RESPONSE Consumers Power Company's response to IE Bulletin 79-06B dated April 27, 1979 stated that certain actions would be completed by May 18, 1979.
The resolution of these items is as follows:
Item 2 Applicable procedures have been revised to permit void recognition, to include actions to minimize the chance for void formation and to maintain forced PCS flow.
Item 6b Following a reset of safety injection, continued operation of the HPSI pumps will result in lifting relief valve RV-3161.
This, in turn, will result in rapid filling of the quench tank and, ultimately, the containment building sump.
Because this condition is highly undesirable, and because safety injec-tion may not be reset until a minimum of 50°F subcooling exists (see response to Question 6a, dated 4/27/79), we intend to stop the safety injection pumps at the time of resetting the safety injection system.
Item 6c Because of unforeseen hardware procurement delays, the modification referred to in the April 27, 1979 response will be delayed until June 1, 1979.
Item 7 The component cooling system has also been reviewed to the same criteria as those systems listed in the April 27, 1979 response and was found to be satis-factory.
Under review at this time are the emergency diesels (fuel supplies, starting air), the service water system, and alternate suction paths for water to the auxiliary feed-water pumps.
