Item 12 of this list described the environmental qualification for Amphenol connectors (Part Number 74868-UG59-A-U) which con-nect the signal cables to power range flux channels NI9_05 through NI008.
The qualification of these connectors was based on the argument that they would be required for only about one second after a control rod ejection accident and that the environment in which these connectors exist would remain at or near normal conditions for that one second.
Consumers Power Company has concluded that (1) the qualification requirements of the Viking connectors (Part Number 29-0008-0000) which connect the other end of the signal cable to the penetration assembly need not be more stringent than those for the Amphenol connectors and (2) these connectors need not be potted to meet the environmental qualification requirements.
Attached to this letter are revised pages to our November 30, 1978 submittal showing the above change.
Viking Connector 29-0008-0000 has been deleted from Item 13 and added to Item 12.
A revised list of potted connectors at the Palisades Plant, which was previously submitted to you on April 6, 1978, is also attached.
Viking Connector 29-0008-0000 has been deleted from this list.
