SAFETY EVALUATIONSUPPLEMENT, BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 2 AND 3 - RADIOLOGICALDOSE CALCULATIONSASSOCIATED WITH POWER UPRATE LICENSE AMENDMENTS254 AND 214 (TAC NOS. MA5991 AND MA5992)
Dear Mr..Scalice:
By letter dated March 30, 1999, Mr. T.E.,Abney of Tennessee Valley Authority forwarded information related to reanalysis of control room, site boundary and low population zone doses.
This information was provided in response to Units 2 and 3 license conditions that were imposed as part of the power uprate amendments (TAC Nos. M99711 and M99712).
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has reviewed the information and prepared a safety evaluation (enclosed) which supplements its safety evaluation of August 11, 1998. The new dose calculations are acknowledged to be the analyses of record for the radiological consequences of a design basis loss-of-coolant accident.
This action resolves the part of the license conditions which require you to submit, for NRC approval, the methodology and results of dose consequences analyses by March 31, 1999. This completes action on TAC Nos. MA5991 and MA5992. The license"-, conditions willremain in the licenses until the necessary modifications are completed.
Ifyou have any questions regarding this action, contact the undersigned at 301-415-3026.
Sincerely, Original signed by:
