SUBJECT:
APPLICABILITY OF NED0-32205-A, REVISION 1
TO THE BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 2 (TAC NO. H90665)
J
Dear Mr. Kingsley:
By letter dated October 18,
submitted reactor vessel surveillance data for the Browiis Ferry Nuclear Plant (BFN) Unit 2.
This letter also confirmed that NED0-32205-A, Revision 1,
u10 CFR 50, Appendix G, Equivalent..Margin Analysis,for, Low Upper--'Shelf Energy in BWR/2 Through BWR/6 Vessels,"
was applicable,to BFN Unit 2. TVA"requested approval to use this topical report to demonstrate 'compliance with 10 CFR 50, Appendix G, paragraph IV.A.1 for BFN Unit 2.
As discussed in the enclosed safety evaluation, the NRC staff has reviewed TVA's submittal, and has concluded that NED0-32205-A, Revision 1, is applicable to the BFN Unit 2 reactor vessel.,
As a,result, the BFN Unit 2 reactor vessel satisfies the criteria in ASME Code Case,N-512 and Appendix K, and will have margins of safety against fracture, equi, valent to those required by Appendix G of the ASME Code at the expiration of its license, and therefore meets the upper shelf energy requirements of Appendix G of 10 CFR Part 50.
Please call Joe Williams at (301) 415-1470 if you have any questions regarding this topic.
Sincerely, Original signed by Frederick J.
