BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 2 REACTOR CONTAINMENT BUILDING INTEGRATED LEAK RATE TEST (TAC NO. H91541)
Dear Hr. Kingsley:
By letter dated February 6, 1995, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) submitted a summary report for an Integrated Leak Rate Test performd on the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant (BFN) Unit 2 containment in the Fall of 1994.
Because of problems encountered during the testing, TVA requested NRC approval of the future BFN Unit 2 ILRT (Type A test)
- schedule, as required by Technical Specification 4.7.A.2.b.
The staff is not aware of any special circumstances at the plant which would require more frequent testing as a result of this isolated case of failure to meet acceptance criteria.
One penetration
- path, which was a substantial contributor to the leakage, was repaired subsequent to the test and should reduce leakage in the next test.
Your proposed schedule of Cycle 9 refueling outage which is currently scheduled for March 1998, for the next ILRT is, therefore, approved.
- However, should the ILRT fail to meet acceptance criteria on the next test, more frequent testing wi"ll be required, pursuant to Appendix J, III.AD6(b).
