Division of Materials Safety, Security, State, and Tribal Programs Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards

SUBJECT:

SOLICITATION OF TOPICS FOR THE 2018 ORGANIZATION OF AGREEMENT STATES ANNUAL MEETING The 2018 Organization of Agreement States (OAS) annual meeting will be held in Montgomery, Alabama on August 13-16, 2018, and I am requesting topics that your office would like to present at the meeting. I will provide the NRCs suggested topics to the OAS Board for discussion and consideration at their board meeting on March 14, 2018. The OAS Board is responsible for planning the annual meeting, including the development of the 2018 annual meeting agenda.

The membership of the OAS consists of state radiation control directors and staff from the 37 Agreement States who are responsible for implementing their respective Agreement State programs. The OAS provides a mechanism for the Agreement States to collaborate with each other and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to ensure the protection of public health and safety and the environment within the National Materials Program.

I would appreciate receiving topics, including a short description of the topics and potential speakers, by March 7, 2018. Offices interested in presenting a poster should also submit a poster title and a short description by this date. Please submit the requested information to Kathy Modes (contact information provided below). I will notify all potential speakers whether their topics are accepted following the OAS Board meeting on March 14, 2018.
