Letter from John Hutton, Director of Nuclear Services to W. C. Bibb, Site Director, BFN dated March 12, 1986, "Status of Browns Ferry Stability Issue" By letter dated March 4, 1982, TVA submitted a proposed TS amendment, to permit operation at reduced power with a single recirculation loop in service.
Reference 1 requested TVA to provide additional information regarding intent and planned schedule for performing a single-loop test.
Also, an intent and planned schedule for submitting additional TS revisions to address stability aspects of natural circulation, single-loop and dual-loop operation was requested by Reference 1.
Reference 2 stated TVA did not intend to submit TS revisions with regard to the stability aspect of natural circulation single-loop and dual-loop operation until after TVA has evaluated the results of the single-loop operation test.
The Single-loop Stability tests were performed February 9,
- 1985, on BFN Unit 1.
Reference 3 documents the analysis of the data results.
