'I TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY P. 0. Box 2000 Decatur, Alabama OCT f9 1990 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk Washington, D.C. 20555 Gentlemen:

In the Matter of Docket Nos. 50-259 Tennessee Valley Authority 50-260 50-296 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) SEMIANNUAL RADIOACTIVE EFFLUENT RELEASE REPORT July through December 1988 Correction TVA submitted the BFN Semiannual Radioactive Effluent Release Report for July through December 1988, in accordance with BFN Radiological Effluent Manual Section F.2 and Regulatory Guide 1.21 Revision 1 on March 2, 1989. The July through December 1988 report contained discrepancies in 'the solid waste and irradiated fuel shipments section.

The discrepancies in the report have been attributed to personnel error. The individual preparing this report inaccurately included the activity of an irradiated material shipment in section 2.b. The volume of the waste shipped to disposal by an offsite processor was not involved in the dry compressible waste total activity and volume.'lso, a typographical error was made in section l.a. 2.66E+Ol curies was reported rather than 2.66E+02, and this is corrected in the enclosed report.

Enclosed are BFN's corrected pages for July through December 1988. The corrections are indicated by a vertical line in the right margin.

There are no commitments made in this submittal. Please refer any questions or comments to me at (205) 729-3566.
