In the Matter of Tennessee Valley Authority Docket No. 50-260 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) RESCHEDULING OF 10 CFR 50, APPENDIX R AUDIT The purpose of this letter is to request NRC to defer the Appendix R audit for BFN unit 2, which is currently scheduled for March 6, 1989.
NRC Project Manager for BFN was informally made aware of this request during a meeting on January 9, 1989.
This request is based on several factors.
First, certain plant modifications and documentation will not be completed and ready for the audit as currently scheduled.
These tasks have been given a high priority and are closely monitored by site management.
- Second, additional time is needed to allow newly acquired members of the TVA and BFN management teams the opportunity.to assess the Appendix R program for BFN.
Finally, TVA is in the process of implementing various enhancements to the Fire Protection Program as "Lessons Learned" from other TVA nuclear plants.
Based on the current schedule, TVA will be prepared to discuss a new Appendix R audit date by February 24, 1989.
