In the Natter of Tennessee Valley Authority Docket Nos. 50-259 50-260 50-296 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR. ELAND (BFN). TVA BFN TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION NO. 258 EXTEND BFN OPERATING LIFE In accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 50.4 and 50.90, we are submitting a request for an amendment to licenses DPR-33, DPR-52, and DPR-68 to change the BFN Technical Specifications for units 1, 2, and 3 (enclosure 1).
The purpose of this license amendment is to extend the duration of the BFN license to forty (40) years from the date of issuance of the operating license which is permitted by NRC regulation 10 CFR 50.57.
BFN is currently licensed for operation for 40 years commencing with the issuance of the construction permit, which was issued on May 10, 1967 for units 1 and 2; and July 31, 1968 for unit 3.
- Thus, the operating licenses will expire on May 10, 2007 for units 1 and 2; and July 31, 2008 for unit 3.
It is requested that the'icense expiration dates be changed to December 20, 2013 for unit 1, June 28, 2014 for unit 2, and July 2, 2016 for unit 3, which is 40 years from issuance of the respective operating license.
The description, reason for change, and justification in support of the

A proposed determination of no significant hazards consideration is provided (enclosure 3).
