20555 Gentlemen:
In the Matter of Tennessee Valley Authority Docket Nos. 50-259 50-260 50-296 BROWHS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFH) AMPACITY EVALUATION PROGRAM PLAN, REVISIOH 0.
The purpose of this letter is to transmit BFN's Ampacity Evaluation Program Plan.
The program plan addresses the possibility that some electrical cables at BFH may be undersized because the design standards did not adequately account for the effects of cable environment and cable installation configuration on ampacity.
The corrective action provisions in the plan, which are similar to the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant ampacity program, will verify the adequacy of safety-related auxiliary and control power cables at various voltage levels.
The calculation methodologies are part of the attached program plan.
Because BFH Cable Ampacity Evaluation is a critical restart issue, TVA is presently proceeding with this program.
Me request your expeditious review and subsequent issuance of a Safety Evaluation Report addressing the program.
Upon approval, the FSAR will be updated as required.
Should you have any questions, please telephone A. C. Alford at (205) 729-2855.
Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY R. Gridley, Di ctor Nuclear Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Enclosures cc:
