In the Matter of Tennessee Valley Authority Docket Nos.

50-259 50-260 50-296 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) 10 CFR 50, APPENDIX R By letter dated January 31, 1986 and amended by letter dated November 21,

1986, TVA requested an exemption from the requirements of 10 CFR 50, Appendix R, Paragraph III.G.2 for 20-foot separation of safe shutdown equipment.

Since that time, TVA has reconsidered the need for the exemption and is currently pursui.ng various options to meet, Appendix R, III.G.2 separation requirements.

The options being pursued will warrant either a

complete withdrawal or a significant change to exemption (g) as currently delineated in the November 21, 1986 submi.ttal.

Therefore, we request NRC delay review of exemption (g) requested on November 21, 1986.

TVA will provide, as soon as possible, a letter withdrawing the exemption or provi.ding a revised request.
