50-259 50-260 50-296 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) WELD REINSPECTION REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This letter is in response to your October 3, 1986 request for additional information on the BFN weld reinspection work plan.
Enclosure 1 contains the responses to the six questions in your request.
Also, during an NRC welding inspection at Watts Bar on December 12,
- 1986, members of your staff requested a status of the welding program review at BFN.
We have provided a summary of the current program status as enclosure 2.
Note that Phase I of the program is complete and Volume 4 of the TVA Welding Project (Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant Phase I Report) is attached.
Completion of the Phase II report is currently scheduled for April 1987.
We believe a meeting with the NRC staff to discuss the progress of the welding program would be beneficial.
We suggest that the meeting be held in early February at BFN.
The response to your October 3,
1986 welding questions on Volume 3 of the TVA Nuclear Performance Plan will be submitted by separate letter. If you have further questions regarding these responses, please get in touch with R.
