50-259 50-260 50-296 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) MODIFICATION OF VACUUM BREAKERS ON MARK I CONTAINMENTS (GENERIC LETTER 83-08)
By letter to the TVA Manager of Nuclear Power dated November 25,
- 1986, NRC requested an updated status on the modifications of our drywell/torus vacuum breakers.
Our letter from J.
A. Domer to H. R. Denton dated November 5, 1984, submitted a description of the drywell/torus vacuum breaker modifications and committed to a modification schedule.
This schedule is still in effect.
Further updates on the progress of these modifications are as follows:
Unit 1 No work has been started.
Modifications are to be accomplished in the current cycle 6 outage.
Unit 2 Modifications pertaining to Generic Letter 83-08 are complete.
Unit 3 Modifications pertaining to Generic Letter 83-08 are complete.
It should be noted that other modifications to improve the drywell/torus vacuum breakers testing mechanism are being performed in conjunction with the work pertaining to Generic Letter 83-08.
This testing mechanism modification is complete on unit 2 and is scheduled to be completed in the current cycle 5 outage on unit 3. If you have any questions, please get in touch with J. L. Turner at BFN (205) 729-2676.
