NOTICE OF AVAILABILITYOF DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT FOR SUSQUEHANNA STEAM ELECTRIC STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission s regulations in 10 CFR Part 51, notice is hereby given that a Draft Environmental Statement (NUREG-0564) prepared by the Commission's C

Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation related to the proposed operation of the

~ r Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2, located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, is being made available for inspection by the'ublic in the Commission's Public Document Room at 1717 H Street, NW, Washington, DC and 1

in the Osterhout Free Library, Reference Department, 71 South Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The Draft Statement is also being made available at the Pennsylvania State Clearinghouse, Governor's Budget Office, Intergovernment Relations Division, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and at the Luzerne County Planning Commission, Court House, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and the Economic. Develop-ment Council of Northeast Pennsylvania, Avoca, Pennsylvania. Requests for copies of the Draft Environmental Statement should be addressed to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, DC, Attention: Director, Division of Technical Information.and Document Control.,

The Applicant's Environmental Report, as supplemented, submitted by Pennsylvania Power and Light Company and Allegheny Electric Cooperative, Inc. is also available for public inspection at the above-designated locations. Notice of availability of the Applicant's Environmental Report was published in the FEDERAL REGISTER on August 9, 1978 (43 F.R. 35406).

7590-01 Pursuant to 10 CFR Part 51, interested persons may submit comments on the Applicant's Environmental Report, as supplemented, and the Draft Environmental Statement for the Commission's consideration. Federal and State agencies are being provided with copies of the Applicant's Environmental Report and the Draft Environmental Statement (local agencies may obtain these documents upon request). Comments are due by August 21, 1979.. Comments by Federal, State, and local officials, or other persons received by the Commission will be made available for public inspection at the Commission's Public Document Room in Washington, DC and the Osterhout Free Library, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Upon consideration of comments submitted with respect to the Draft Environmental availability Statement, the Commission's staff will prepare a Final Environmental Statement, the .of which will be published in the FEDERAL REGISTER.

Comments. on the Draft Environmental Statement from interested persons of the public should be addressed to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission., Washington, DC 20555, Attention: Director, Division of Site Safety and Environmental Analysis.
