SUBJECT:
SUSQUEHANNA HEARING SCHEDULE This is in t.'esponse,to your note of June 6, 1979 concerning. staff response to first-round discovery requests for the Susquehanna proceeding.
As you are aware the project manager, S. Bajwa, has been placed tin full time duty with tl>e Office of State Programs.
This assignment, along with others from the branch, was made in conjunction with the interim organization of NRR to handle the Three Nile Island investigation.
As a result, casework that was previously spread over nine project managers is not assigned to only five project managers.
All of the project managers have active cases that require their immediate attention with tligher priority than Susquehanna.
In view of this fact it is requested that the Board be asked to grant the staff relief from the current schedule.
Paul Leech has been given this case and should be able to begin work on the first-round discovery questions by mid-August.
Based on that assumption we should be able to file the response by mid-September..
It also appears likely that 'responses to questions generated by the.publication of the DES can be filed at the same time since we anticipate that the DES will be issued before the end of June.
