In the Matter of the Tennessee Valley Authority Docket Nos.
50-259 50-260 50-296 This letter is to advise you of our plans to utilize the Visual Weld Acceptance Criteria (VWAC) for Structural Welding at nuclear power plants, revision 2, developed by the Nuclear Construction Issues Group (NCIG-01, revision 2), for inspections of welds at the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.
- Also, we intend to use the "Sampling Plan for Visual Reinspection of Welds" (NCIG-02) for the reinspection, of structural welds to establish confidence in weld quality.
These criteria will be used for inspection of welds at Browns Ferry performed. to the requirements of the American Institute of Steel Construction and the American Welding Society as specified in the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR).
We plan to take no exception to the VWAC requirements.
The Browns Ferry FSAR will be revised to address the use of the VWAC in the next scheduled annual update.
