TENNESSEE VALLEYAUTHORlTY CHATTANOOGA. TENNESSEE 37401 5N 157B Lookout Place November 26, 1985 Director of Nuclear Reactox Regulation Attention:
Mr. Domenic B. Vassallo, Chief Operating Reactor Branch No.
2 Division of Licensing U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.
20555
Dear Mr. Vassallo:
In the Mattex of the Tennessee Valley Authority Docket Nos.
50-259 50-260 50-296 Please refer to J.
A. Domer's letter to H. R. Denton dated December 13, 1984 which discussed TVA's radiological milk sampling program for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.
Section 4.2.3.b of the Browns Ferry Appendix B technical specifications requires the sampling of milk from four farms with milk-producing animals in the vicinity of the plant (i.e., five miles).
- However, as indicated in the December 13 letter, there are only three milk farms within the vicinity of the plant for TVA to sample.
One of the three existing milk sampling farms, which is located 8.8 miles east-of the plant, has notified TVA that as of October 28, 1985 he has ceased dairy operations.
We have identified a daixy farm located 4.?5 miles north of the plant that. is resuming operations.
TVA commenced sampling at that farm on November 4, 1985.
The technical specification will be revised to reflect this change in sampling locations.
-'f you have any questions, please get in touch with us through the Browns Ferry Project Manager.
