Reactor Operations Analysis Branch Office for Analysis and Evaluation of Operational Data BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT HPCI SYSTEM PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT The enclosed Technical Review is forwarded for your information and consid-eration.
The report found that while problems have been experienced in the HPCI systems at all Browns Ferry units, the frequency and type of mal-functions were comparable to those experienced at other operating domestic boiling water reactors having a HPCI system.
Most of the significant recur-rent problems affecting the system appear to have been resolved.
The report concludes that the operating history of the Browns Ferry HPCI systems indicates that the current level of system performance is sufficient to meet its intended safety function and system reliability requirements.
Therefore, continued monitoring of the performance of the HPCI systems at Browns Ferry by AEOD does not seem necessary at this time.
