BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT Please refer to the September 28 notice of noncompliance for DSN lll-Sewage treatment plant effluent.
The noncompliance concerned grab samples collected in August that had parameters to exceed the 7-day average permit limitation.
The description of the discharge from the sewage treatment plant effluent should have been reported as follows.
Date 8/14 8/23 8/30 TSS TSS TSS 75 mg/L 140 mg/L 47 mg/L 45 mg/L 45 mg/L 45 mg/L As reported in our September 28 letter, the sewage treatment plant is over-loaded.
The chlorine contact tank is pumped out periodically to help reduce permit noncompliances that result from overloaded conditions.
A sewage treatment lagoon to replace the present facility is under construction.
The sewage treatment plant will be operated as close as possible to permit limits until the lagoon is operational.
The August DMR submitted September 28 reflects this change'of notification.
