ENCLOSURE
RESPONSE
TO NRC REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION D. B. VASSALLO'S LETTER TO H. G.
PARRIS DATED JUNE 13, 1984 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT
~uestion What, if any, analyses were performed utilizing methodology not previously approved in NUREG-0661 in determining if set point logic changes were needed to reduce water clearing thrustloads associated with second SRV actuations?
~Res onse TVA's SRV discharge piping modifications were based on the most severe reflood conditions predicted by the RVRIZ and RVFOR computer codes (load case C3.3 as defined in the load definition report).
Therefore, we comply with NUREG-0661.
In addition, no set point logic changes were required.
guestian What, if any, credit for operator action is required to prevent or reduce the thrust loads associated with second actuations of SRVs and if so, the kind of action and how long after event initiation the action is required.
~Res onse No credit was taken for operator action to prevent or reduce thrust loads associated with subsequent SRV actuations.
