UNITEDSTATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D. C. 20555 Docket Nos.
50-387 and 50-388 FEB 0 8 1980 APPLICANT:
Pennsylvania Power and Light Company FACILITY:
Susquehanna, Units 1
and 2
SUBJECT:
SUSQUEHANNA CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE A meeting was held in Bethesda, Maryland on January 29, 1980 at the applicant's request to discuss the Susquehanna construction schedule.
The meeting was requested in order to provide the staff with construction information in advance of the staff's Caseload Forecast Panel site visit scheduled for February 21 and 22, 1980.
The meeting attendees are listed in the Enclosure.
The meeting is summarized as follows:
The last Caseload Forecast Panel assessment was in May 1979 and resulted in a projected fuel load date of March 1981.
The applicant has recently performed a reassessment of their construction schedule and adjusted their December 1980 Unit 1 fuel load date to April 15, 1981.
Unit 1 is considered 75 percent complete.
The applicant pointed out that their dates are optimistic and do not include TMI changes.
Integrated project schedules for the plant safety
- systems, which form the basis for the April 15, 1981 date, were provided to the staff.
The applicant asked about the proposed agenda for the upcoming (February 21 and 22, 1980)
Caseload Forecast Panel assessment.
They were advised that the visit would be very similar to the last visit and that an agenda would be published along with the meeting notice.
The applicant was advised that the Caseload Forecast Panel projections are based on what is witnessed in the plant during the panel's walk through, on the percent completion of certain key systems, i.e., large piping, and on our experience in other facilities.
The applicant was advised that the staff's resources are heavily involved in completing our review of the near term operating license applications.
We further stated that we are attempting to re-establish review schedules for completion of the other in house applications.
