SUMMARY
OF JANUARY 13, 2017, CLOSED MEETING WITH AREVA INC. REGARDING ENHANCED ACCIDENT TOLERANT FUEL On January 13, 2017, a closed meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and AREVA Inc. (AREVA). During the meeting, AREVA introduced its enhanced accident tolerant fuel (EATF) program to the NRC staff. AREVA provided an overview of the EATF program. AREVA informed the NRC staff of the list of topical reports under NRC review that will be needed for the program to be successful. AREVA introduced the concepts for the types of fuel under development. The option of using and the potential impact of using the Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulation 50.46c rule were also discussed. The NRC staff provided feedback to AREVA on what was discussed. The NRC staff requested early and frequent interaction as AREVA advances into the program. A list of attendees is enclosed.
