SUBJECT:

VERIFICATION LETTER OF THE APPROVAL VERSION OF AREVA INC.

TOPICAL REPORT BAW-10179P-A, REVISION 9, SAFETY CRITERIA AND METHODOLOGY FOR ACCEPTABLE CYCLE RELOAD ANALYSES (EPID: L-2017-TOP-0066)

Dear Mr. Peters:

By letter dated December 8, 2017 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML17347A028), AREVA Inc. (AREVA) submitted an approval (-A) version of Topical Report (TR) BAW-10179P-A, Revision 9, Safety Criteria and Methodology for Acceptable Cycle Reload Analyses, to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff. AREVA has done so in accordance with our request to publish approval proprietary and non-proprietary versions of this TR, as detailed in the transmittal letter dated November 21, 2017, of the NRC staffs final safety evaluation (ADAMS Accession No. ML17362A128) for the original TR.

The NRC staff has completed its review of the approval version of the TR. The NRC staff verified that AREVA has met the requirements and determined that the submitted -A versions are acceptable for referencing in licensing applications for nuclear power plants to the extent specified and under the limitations delineated in the accepted versions of the TR. TR BAW-10179P-A, Revision 9, Safety Criteria and Methodology for Acceptable Cycle Reload Analyses, is now approved for use in future licensing actions.

Please contact Jonathan G. Rowley of my staff at (301) 415-4053 if you have on questions on this subject.

Sincerely,

/RA/
