SUBJECT:
IMPACTOF A COMMERCIALAIRPORT ATTHE HOMESTEAD AIR FORCE BASE SITE ON SAFETY ATTURKEYPOINT PLANT, UNITS 3 AND4 (TAC NOS. MA0848 AND MA0849)
Dear Ms. Lorion:
Our letter dated August 5, 1998 (Enclosure 1), to Florida Power and Light Company, the licensee for Turkey Point Units 3 and 4, provides a response to the licensee's submittal of June 15, 1998 (Enclosure 2), regarding the potential impact of a commrercial airport at the Homestead AirForce Base.
The licensee's June 15, 1998, submittal was previously faxed to you.
Our August 5, 1998 letter stated, among other things, that many of the attributes associated with the prospective regional airport are currently under review as part of the development of a draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement.
Accordingly, the information provided by the licensee's submittal dated June 15, 1998, is subject to change.
Also, the letter stated that based on the currently available information, we believe that the spectrum of potential projects resulting from the conversion is still under examination and development. Therefore, we requested that the licensee update the information provided in the June 15, 1998, submittal as the issues become more defined but before the Final Safety Analysis,Report is updated.
Ifyou have any comments regarding this matter, please contact me at (301) 415-1496.
Sincerely,
/S/
