The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
as part of its.responsibility of regulating nuclear power plants. periodically evaluates the performance of its licensees through a program called the Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance (SALP).
Through this program, we review and evaluate our licensees'erformance in the four major categories of:
Plant Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Plant Support.
The Plant Support category includes an assessment of licensee performance with regard to emergency preparedness.
On October 10, 1996.
representatives of the NRC will meet, with the management of the Florida Power and Light Company to discuss the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant's performance over the past 24 months.
You are invited to attend this meeting as an observer.
Subsequent to this meeting, we have scheduled time to meet with you.
and other members of your staff as you deem appropriate.
to discuss matters of mutual interest with regard to the regulation and performance of Turkey Point.
This SALP meeting is scheduled to be conducted at 10:00 a.m. in the Training
