Dear Mr. Goldberg:

SUBJECT:

TURKEY POINT UNITS 3 AND 4 REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION-GENERIC LETTER (GL) 92-01, "REACTOR VESSEL STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY" REVISION 1

DATED MARCH 6, 1992 (TAC NOS.

M83742 AND M83743)

By letter dated July 1,

1992, you provided response to GL 92-01 "Reactor Vessel Structural Integrity," Revision 1, dated March 6, 1992, for Turkey Point Units 3 and 4.

We have completed our initial review and determined that we will need additional information identified below to continue our review.

Your response to quesion 2b in GL 92-01 refers to Table 3 of BAW-2166 which indicates that a generic initial RT>>> of -5 'F, which is the mean RTgpT value for 34 Linde 80 welds (BAW-1803, RevVsion 1), is used for all welds except weld SA-1101.

Please provide justification for not using the generic mean value for Linde 80 welds of 0 'F as required by 10 CFR 50.61.

Your response to questions 2b(5) in GL 92-01 refers to Table 5 of BAW-2166 and indicates that the copper content for beltline material 122S146VA1 is not known.

Please confirm this and justify that embrittlement for this material is not a concern.

In order for us to maintain our review schedule, your response is requested within 60 days of the date of this letter.

If you cannot provide a full response within the requested time, please provide your full response schedule within 60 days of the date of this letter.

The information requested by this letter is within the scope of the overall burden estimated in Generic Letter 92-01, Revision 1, "Reactor Vessel Structural Integrity, 10 CFR 50.54(f)."

The estimated average number of burden hours is 200 person hours for each adressee's response.

This estimate pertains only to the identified response-related matters and does not include the time required to implement actions required by the regulations.

This action is covered by the Office of Management and Budget Clearance Number 3120-0011, which expires June.30, 1994.
