The Safety Evaluation provides some guidance for the 28 Westinghouse
- plants, including Turkey Point Units 3 and 4, that could not be shown acceptable by the WOG generic analysis.
The staff recognizes your commitment, provided in your letter L-90-424, dated January 2, 1991, to complete plant-specific analyses in accordance with Action 1.d by November 29, 1991, and to incorporate the results into the existing analysis documentation of record by December 31, 1991.
You are requested to inform us in writing when your results are in the record.

PRESSURIZER SURGE LINE THERMAL STRATIFICATION, BULLETIN 88-11, TURKEY POINT UNITS 3 AND 4 (TAC NOS.

The NRC staff and its consultant, Brookhaven National Laboratory, have completed their review of the Westinghouse Owners Group (WOG) report (WCAP-12639) on generic detai led analysis of pressurizer surge line stratification.
The staff concluded that the methodology used to analyze and evaluate the stress fatigue effects due to thermal stratification and thermal striping was acceptable.
However, for the 43 plants included in the WOG generic analysis, only 15 plants demonstrated acceptable stress fatigue in the surge line.
