'UL Re: Turkey Point Units 3 8 4 QW ~gspH Docket No. 50-250 5 50-251 Proposed License Amendment Fuel Assembl Decay Period In accordance with 10 CFR 50.30, Florida Power 8 Light Company submits herewith three signed originals and forty copies of a request to amend Appendix A of Facility Operating Licenses DPR-31 and DPR-41.

This amendment is submitted to allow up to 36 assemblies of the Unit 3 Region 10 fuel to be removed from the Unit 3 spent fuel pit after a decay period of 95 days instead of the presently required period of 120 days. These assemblies were in a critical reactor at very low power for only approximately 6? 1/2 hours between April 19, 1981 and April 24, 1981 and are to be transferred to the Unit 4 spent fuel pit.

The proposed amendment is described below and shown on the accompanying Technical Specification pages bearing the date of this letter in the lower right hand corner.

3. 2-A footnote changing the decay period for Unit 3 from 120 days to 95 days is added.

We have determined that this is a Class I and Class III request in accordance with 10 CFR 170. A check for $ 4,400 is enclosed.

The proposed amendment has been reviewed by the Turkey Point P'lant Nuclear Safety Committee and the Florida Power 8 Light Company Nuclear Review 8oard.
