- Enclosed, for your further in ormation, is a copy of a letter which 1 have received from my constituent, Mrs. Keith Neal Bennett, of Coral Gables.
Mrs. Bennett is opposed to the recent decision by the NRC's Atomic Safety and Licensing Board to cancel the public hearing scheduled for the intervenor in Miami, Florida, who raised questions about the pro-posed steam generator repairs to Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant.
I would very much appreciate your consideration of the comments in the letter and your providing me with the benefit of a reply.

1 am very alarmed by the Florida Power and Light Com-pany's nuclear energy producing plant at Turkey Point.
am opposec.
to the use of all nuclear energy either for war or peaceful purposes because there is no way to get rid of nuclear waste safely.
Since extensive repairs need to be done to this plant at Tu key Point, this would be an appro-
-priate time to scrap the whole proj ect.
Of particular concern to me is the water su-ply here in Dade County.
As porous as the rock is the radio active contamination could seep right into the water.
What will happen to the drums of nuclear waste in case of a hurricane?
Rapid evacuation from this area would be impossiole.
Have you any explanation as to why the huclear Regu-latory Commission'ancelled the hearing on repairing the plant at Turkey Point'?
Could it be that Florida Power and Light doesn't want the public to know how dangerous nuclear energy is'?
My answer to all of this is to get rid of all forms of nuclear energy as auickly as possible and to spend whatever is necessary for other safe forms of energy such as the wind, tides,,and the sun, Of course finding alterna-tive forms 'of energy is expensive, but so is nuclear energy.
I would appreciate your help on this problem.
