Honorable Lawton Chiles United States Senate Washington, D. C.

Dear Lawton:

Back in 1977 I wrote to you on several occasions about the problems at Turkey Point.

Since that time, the problems have persisted and we have now gotten reports from the Nuclear Regulatory Commissioh re-garding their visits to Turkey Point., I note that during the period we were complaining, the Nuclear -Regulatory Commission visited Turkey Point many, many times.

In fact, visits by the inspectors totalled 74 and ranged from one-day visits to one-week visits.

I wish to bring to your attention that even though they are watching the situation, several problems are beginning to exist and it willmake the Three Mile Island incident look like a "peanut" if compared.to what willhappen at Turkey Point.

I am sorry that it is necessary to bring this. information to you and your good offices, but something has to be done.

Very tr y

urs,

/jaw
