. The Florida Power 5-Light 'Company (FPL) amendment request dated Septem-:
ber 8, 1978 has been revised to incorporate the changes suggested by the NRC.
The revised amendment, request has been drafted, but the on-site and off-site reviews required by Technical Specifications have not been completed l/hen the reviews are complete (about tray 18), the revised request will be forwarded to the NRC.
A one-time, 24-hour, simultaneous full load test of the two Turkey Point diesel generator units has been tentatively scheduled
.near the end of the current Unit 4 refueling outage (both units
. will be shutdown).
The test will include two hours at the two-
.hour rating (2750 kw) at the beginning of the test.
Load, voltage, frequency, and cooling, system performance'will be monitored, and..
the resul.ts'of the test viill be reported to the NRC.
N
.. C.
Me have reviewed the fuel oil supply system for the diesel generator units
'nd have determined that, except for the common main storage tank and the pipe from this tank to the fuel transfer pumps, no single mechanical or electrical failure can result in failure to supply fuel to both units.
D.
All successful valid tests of.the-'diesel generators will be.recorded..:':
Unsuccessful valid tests-will be. reported as Reportable Occurrences
=
(i.e., Licensee Event Reports).
The information requested by the NRC in their March 9, 1979 letter will be provided in the report.
. The data base for documenting successful valid tests will begin when the amendment request is approved.
The determinations of "valid test" and "successful valid test" will be made in accordance with definitions. to be proposed in the revised amendment request.
The diesel generator lockout relays are periodically tested.
A copy of the test procedure is attached.
Additional information on the lockout features will be submitted with the amendment request.
