VERIFICATION LETTER OF THE APPROVAL VERSION OF WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC COMPANY TOPICAL REPORT WCAP-17642-P/NP, REVISION 1, WESTINGHOUSE PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS AND DESIGN MODEL (PAD5) (TAC NO. MF3096)

Dear Mr. Gresham:

By letter dated November 27, 2017 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML17334A826), Westinghouse Electric Company (Westinghouse) submitted an approval (-A) version of topical report (TR) the WCAP-17642-P/NP, Revision 1, Westinghouse Performance Analysis and Design Model (PAD5), to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff. Westinghouse has done so in accordance with our request to publish approval proprietary and non-proprietary versions of this TR, as detailed in the transmittal letter of the NRC staffs final safety evaluation (ADAMS Accession No. ML17100A921) for the WCAP-17642-P/NP, Revision 1, Westinghouse Performance Analysis and Design Model (PAD5).

The NRC staff has completed its review of the approval version of the TR. The NRC staff verified that Westinghouse has met the requirements and determined that the submitted - A versions are acceptable for referencing in licensing applications for nuclear power plants to the extent specified, and under the limitations delineated in the accepted versions of the TR.

WCAP-17642-P-A/WCAP-17642-NP-A, Revision 1, Westinghouse Performance Analysis and Design Model (PAD5) is now approved for use in future licensing actions.
