Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant Units 1 and 2
Overview of Updated Plant Restart Plan an'd Schedule On January 14,
Cook Nuclear
- Plant, announced a
revision to the current restart plan and schedule for D.
C.
Cook Unit: 1. 'he change was necessary to align the restart.
schedule with additional activities determined to be necessary for a
successful restart of unit 1.
Specifically, IGM will conduct enhanced system readiness reviews for select D.C.
Cook plant systems.
The purpose of these reviews is to assess the conformance of. the plant
- design, maintenance, operation, and testing with the design and licensing requirements.
The resolution of the restart required issues evolving from this effort will provide additional assurance that the plant systems are capable of meeting their functional requirements and operating within their design and licensing basis.
Following the completion of the enhanced system readiness
- reviews, an integrated restart schedule for Unit 1 will be developed.
The scope and the duration of this schedule will be dependent on the results of the enhanced readiness reviews.
Similarly, an integrated restart schedule will be developed for unit 2
and submitted at a later date.
Copies of this letter are being transmitted to the Michigan Public Service Commission and Michigan Department of Public Health, in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.91.
