WITHDRAW OPERATING LICENSE AND TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS CHANGE REQUEST FOR INCREASED UNIT 2 RATED THERMAL POWER AND RELATED UNIT 1 CHANGES (TAC Nos:
96363 and 96364)
In our submittal AEP:NRC:1223, dated July 11,
- 1996, "Proposed License and Technical Specification Changes Supported by Analyses to Increase Unit 2
Rated Thermal Power and Certain Proposed Changes for Unit 1 Supported by Related Analyses",
we requested a
5% thermal power uprate of Cook Nuclear Plant's unit 2.
In our letter AEP:NRC:1223M, dated September 10,
- 1997, we requested that the NRC review be suspended temporarily because the NRC architect-engineer design inspection had identified design and configuration management issues at the plant.
Since
- then, we have identified portions of the supporting analyses that require re-evaluation.
Therefore, it is prudent that we withdraw the license amendment request.
We will resubmit portions of the unit 2
uprate proposal that include the loss-of-coolant
- accident, but are not tied to the
- uprate, in a future submittal, as stated in AEP:NRC:1118M, dated June 3,
1998.
