Mr. Frank J.
Congel Director, Division of Radiation Protection and Emergency Preparedness Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. Congel:
Enclosed is a copy of the report for the April 3, 1990, exercise of the offsite radiological emergency response plans, site-specific to the D.
C.
Cook Nuclear Power Station.
Berrien
- County, as well as the American Electric Power Company fully participated in the exercise.
The State of Michigan partially participated in the exercise.
The report, dated July 24,
- 1990, was prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
Region V staff.
There were no Deficiencies or Areas Requiring Corrective Action identified during the April 3, 1990, exercise.
The FEMA Region V staff has forwarded a copy of the exercise report to the State.
Based on the results of the April 3, 1990, exercise, FEMA considers that offsite radiological emergency response plans and preparedness are adequate to provide reasonable assurance that appropriate measures can be taken offsite to protect the health and safety of the public in the event of a radiological emergency
't the site.
Therefore, the Title 44 CFR, Part 350 approval of the offsite radiological emergency response plans and preparedness for the D.
C.
Cook Nuclear Power Station granted on September 28, 1983, continues to be in effect.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Craig S.
Wingo, Chief, Technological Hazards Division, on 646-3026.
Sincerely, ennis H. Kwiatkowski Assistant Associate Director Office of Natural and Technological Hazards Enclosure 9010300084 90i00i PDR ADQCK 05000315 F
