Dear Mr. Denton:
This letter is submitted in compliance with your June 12, 1980 Licensing Order'o the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant Unit Nos.
1 and 2.
The Order required us to submit a status report on the Donald C.
Cook Nuclear Plant's compliance with Regulatory Guide 1.97 by February 28, 1985.
"As noted in our letter AEP:NRC:0773J dated February 28,
- 1985, we were unable to provide a complete-status report at that time.
In a subsequent.submittal (AEP:NRC:0773P dated October 1, 1985),
we requested an extension until October 15, 1985 in order to incorporate comments from your staff which required modifications to that report.
This request was granted.
We believe that this report reflects our final plan for disposition of, and/or compliance with, Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.97.
The enclosure contains both a schedule for planned instrumentation upgrades and justification for not complying with specific criteria of RG 1.97.
We recognize that equipment delivery delays, test difficulties, or other problems may cause delays in this schedule.
If these problems should result in a significant change in our overall target date, we will notify you accordingly.
