NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-31 5/97006(DRS)
Dear Mr. Fitzpatrick:
On June 6, 1997, the NRC completed an inspection at your D. C. Cook
1 reactor facility.
The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
During this inspection, it was noted that the steam generator inspection scope was
conservative and complied with industry recommendations
and NRC requirements.
State-
of-the-art inspection equipment was utilized and performance demonstration testing was
required for all the eddy current examination analysts.
Also during this inspection, your staff identified two problems, one with the previous
steam generator eddy current examinations,
and the other with a previous engineering
evaluation.
Since your staff identified these issues and appropriate action was taken,
both of these problems were treated as Non-Cited Violations. However, continued focus
in both areas should be considered.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter
and its enclosures(s)
will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
