You are the offgoing Shift Supervisor awaiting relief followingyour first night shift. At 5:45 am you receive a call from the Security Shift supervisor informing you that your relief has been involved in an accident and willbe unable to report to work. When must you be relieved to prevent exceeding the working hour limitations.

Answer:

The relief must arrive by 10:30 am unless a deviation from the policy is approved by the Plant Manager or designee.

Note:

This answer assumes that the shift supervisor arrived in time to assume duty at 6:30pm (normal time to assume the night shift). Other answers (times) may be acceptable based on initial assumptions.

The limitation imposed for this condition is that "An individual shall not work more than 16 hours1.851852e-4 days <br />0.00444 hours <br />2.645503e-5 weeks <br />6.088e-6 months <br /> straight (not including shift turnover time)". Therefore, at 6:30am the SS would have completed 12 hours1.388889e-4 days <br />0.00333 hours <br />1.984127e-5 weeks <br />4.566e-6 months <br />, excluding turnover time.
