GENERIC LETTER 89-10 SAFETY RELATED MOTOR -
OPERATED VALVE TESTING AND SURVEILLANCE In accordance with Generic Letter (GL) 89-10, item m, the purpose of this letter is to inform you that upon completing the recent Unit 2 refueling outage on May 3, 1996, we have finished the design basis
- reviews, inspections, refurbishments, diagnostic stroke testing and differential pressure testing described in item i of GL 89-10.
Completion of these tasks is in accordance with the schedule previously transmit:ted by our letters AEP:NRC:0966F dated December 28,
- 1989, and AEP:NRC:0966M dated February 28, 1991.
As identified during the April 1996 NRC GL 89-10 inspection, we have several programmatic issues that remain to be completed.
These issues include updating the program to reflect work completed, organizing,and enhancing program documentation for closure, and refining periodic verification activities for motor operated valves after GL 89-10 closure.
We expect: to complet:e work on these issues prior to the NRC closure inspection scheduled for December 1996.
